This small family business started, as most do, in a totally different place then we ended up today. Back in 1994 I started importing jewelry from Nepal, after serving 2+ years in the Peace Corps. For several years I sold handcrafted jewelry to shops around Boston while I put myself through grad school. Then I directed a non profit organization in Boston for four years - working to imrpove Boston public high schools.

I agree that this is more than you need to know about us. When I buy something online, especially a large purchase, I like to know who I am dealing with and that whatever I am buying is from an ethical source and someone I can trust. In this spirit I strive to offer this same disclosure to my customers.

So how do you go from the Peace Corps to leading an educational nonprofit to making a living selling amber jewelry? We are still trying to figure this out. Essentially we changed our game plan when our first son arrived. This business model evolved out of our desire to build a family-centered lifestyle. Making a ton of money was never the goal. We have three beautiful young boys now and are able to raise them in the way we want due largely to this family business. So that is our motivation. Besides our family, our priorities in running our business are to provide an excellent product and even better service... Blah blah blah. I realize this is cliche, everyone says this, but we have 15 years of loyal customers to back up our claim.
